What I Ate March 6, 2009

I really believe in social media. The notion of community (many people) aligning with social media (technology that facilitates sharing) to ineract really speaks to me. Must be from my early days earning my chops with open source technologies. To my dear friends who called this blog, "boring" and "riveting (not)", I introduce to you YawnLog. Yawnlog is a website where you can track how many hours you slept and what you dreamed about. And, they've got funding! Who knows what will become of it and how you make money from it. But the notion that the community is tracking this and sharing is really interesting. And, gee, maybe someday someone will come up with a site to track and discuss what we eat every day. Wouldn't that be neat.

Breakfast

2 Slices Wheat Toast with Butter and Trader Joe's Sunflower Seed Butter (this is really good stuff and did you read about the cleanliness of that peanut processing plant? Ummm, ick.)

Lunch
Pork Chop

Smashed Rutabaga with Baked Pear and Ginger

Dinner

Cheeseburger from The HorseShoe Pub (if you find yourself in or around Hudson, Ma. you really need to head to the 'Shoe, as we call it. 75 beers on tap and really good cheeseburgers. I had the cheddar jack version with a Stella Artois or two.)

What I Ate Feb 22, 2009

It seems FatKlatt is "highly disappointed" with my blog updates and recent entries (and his blog is where? Oh, that's right, he's busy working as an extra). Well, he'll likely be right pissed that I missed a few days then, eh? Hah! I did think about doing a couple over the weekend and catching up, but it's the freaking weekend. I was busy doing anything else. So, for those days I missed, here's what I ate: breakfast, Denny's Big Slam Breakfast; lunch, Burger King Whopper Meal with Onion Rings; dinner, Fish Tacos. Mmmmm, yummy.

So, somebody explain the following to me - I asked TheSpinMD and he had nothing (he was also highly pissed at me because I was having a beer and he was at work, I sense a theme). AIG. We, you and me, own 80% of AIG. AIG is prepping to report $60B loss next week. Their market cap is $1.4B. And, the gubmnet is looking to buy more of AIG to keep them afloat. Why? What are we buying? Serious, someone explain this to me. I am no mathematician, but that math doesn't work. I am practicing my "oots" and "aboots", just in case.........

On to the food. Check out dinner, JBOO went crazy:

Breakfast

Plain Bagel Toasted with butter and peanut butter (I know, it's odd, but I like it.)

Lunch and Dinner

These were combined as we had a little shin-dig and ate all day:

Black Bean Salsa and Chips
Fruit Platter
Veggie and Dip

Turkey, brined, with gravy
Stuffing
Red-Skinned Mashed Potatoes
Lemon-Roasted Green Beans with Marcona Almonds
Grilled Vegs
Cranberry Pecan Goat Cheese Salad
Bread

Strawberry shortcake with Vanilla Ice Cream

I'm still full......

What I Ate Feb 19, 2009

What a load of crap, catch this:

"This is your money. You have a right to know where it's going and how it's being spent. Learn what steps we're taking to ensure you can track our progress every step of the way."

This is from the website for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act or what I'd like to rename the America Recovers by Screwing Everyone (ARSE) Act.

If it's my money, why didn't I get a chance to say where it goes and how it's spent. How is this not taxation without representation? How is this constitutional?

And, can I just say (clearing throat): "SCREW GM! TO HELL WITH CHRYSLER!"

Anyway, keep an eye on this site. Should be good for comic relief. Obama promises to "call out" anyone who doesn't spend "our money" properly. Oooh, what's he gonna do next, put their picture up here?

Breakfast:

One of these Cream Cheese and Blueberry things, which are very good.

Lunch:

Trader Joe's Turkey Sausage Stromboli, man these are so good.

Dinner:

JBOO and I went out for Thai food. Split some Ginger Chicken and Tofu Vegetable Pad Thai.

What I Ate Feb 18, 2009

Thank you to FatKlatt for this pic. That's beautiful. FatKlatt is not known for his patience, nor his spelling.......

Oh, and what the heck. I wasn't going to do it, but this story about a woman who has been married 23 times (and is looking for another), inspired me. Another FatKlatt pic.

Breakfast:
Bacon, egg, cheese on a toasted Sesame Bagel (Yummy! Thank you to JBOO for the big breakfast)
Lunch:
Curried Chicken (leftovers)
Dinner:
Trader Joe's Chicken Seranato (This is great stuff if you haven't had it. Frozen chicken breasts ((tee-hee, he said breasts)) with peppers, onions, in a spicy Verde-type sauce. Not like that over-hyped, over-priced, overly-organic, and all too natural product at this joint.
Pasta (Farfalle, aka bow tie)

Turkey Sandwich

Baked Ziti

All-Star SteakBurger

What I Ate Feb 16, 2009

Okay, sorry J-Clo, but Oregon goes on my list. Massachusetts looking to implement a "mileage charge" to charge drivers a quarter cent for every mile driven. No joke. Has been tested in one other state - you guesses it, Oregon.

Stupid Thing I Said on Feb 16, 2009

To the poor mattress sales guy, "I am not buying today, just tell me how much." Those were my first words to him, I also held my hand up at his face as I said this - by the look on his face, maybe I should've started with "Hi, I'm fine thank you."

Breakfast:

2 Cups of Coffee
2 Slices Plain Wheat Toast
2 Soy Sausages
Texas Pete Hot Sauce (This is the best hot sauce out there in my opinion. I'll admit, this is a fairly bland breakfast, but liberally sprinkle some of this on the toast and sausage and make a sammich out of it and you got some good eatin')

Lunch:

Pizza (Apparently the kids didn't eat much pizza Saturday night as there was lots for left-overs for moi. They did eat a lot of the ice cream though, shocking.)

Dinner:

Steak Fajitas

What I Ate Feb 15, 2009

Okay, rejoice if you don't live in Oregon. 1900% beer tax increase proposed in Oregon. Things are bad, but going after our beer? We won't have it, we can't allow it. Plus, according to this guy, Portland sucks. Although, I've been there a few times and thought it was nice. Lot of bookstores. Plus, one of the nicest people in the world lives there. Oregon, do the right thing, leave our beer alone. Don't be like that psycho Palin and her state's crazy beer tax.

Stupid Thing I Said (or Did) on Feb 15, 2009

"Guys, guys, come here, look at this. It's doggie-poop heaven! There's crap everywhere!" In the immortal words of GoTopes06 "Oy Vey."

Breakfast:

2 Cups of Coffee
Pancakes (so, Bisquick or Aunt Jemima brand for pancakes? We did Aunt Jemima, very good. But honestly, there is no way I could tell the difference between the two. They are probably produced in the same plant and just boxed separately for all we know.)
Bacon (channeling my best Homer Simpson, "mmmmmm, bacon")
OJ

Lunch:

Pizza

Dinner:

Curry Chicken with Pineapple, Bamboo Shoots, Ginger something, Grape Tomatoes, those water chestnut thingies, served over rice (Shout out to the JBOO for this lovely dinner, which was awesome. And the Risotto the other night, which was delish! Seriously, anything you see listed here that requires any effort to produce, JBOO made it. If it's clearly takeout or a meat that was cooked on the grill, then I may have contributed. Beyond that, I was likely just in the way.)

What I Ate Feb 14, 2009

If you've got kids under 12-ish, you need one of these plasma cars. These things rock. We had 6 kids here this weekend, ages 2.5 to almost 11 and the plasma car was the biggest hit of the weekend. Well, truthfully, it was a close race with the big light box and this, but very close.

Stupid Thing I Said On February 14, 2009:

"Michael, Matthew, what's that ones name?" And it was one of mine I was trying to call. Sigh, of all the things I've lost.....

Breakfast:

2 Cups of Coffee
Banana
Sausage, Egg, Cheese on a plain toasted bagel from Dunkin' Donuts. Awesome. One of the best breakfast sandwiches evah! Not like the overpriced crap food that Starbucks tries to peddle. "Oh, look at us, we can charge $16 for a cup of coffee. Gee, how about you bend over and give me $8 for a stale muffin."

Lunch:

Risotto, Chicken, Artichokes, Grape Tomatoes.

Dinner:

Pizza! Had it with a glass (okay, 2) of Trader Joe's Purple Moon Chardonnay. If you haven't tried this and like Chardonnay, you are missing out. And, it's $3.99 a bottle. Yee-haw! And to those snobs that read that and thought "He had a glass of cheap Chardonnay with pizza?", click here.

What I Ate Feb 13, 2009

I'm sure you all saw that meat log thing on that there internet a while back. You know the one, it was all bacon and sausage, like 4 lbs of it. TheSpinMD still hasn't recovered from the one he ate. Well folks, here's another, the meat house. I think this needs to stop....

Stupid Thing I Said Today:
A classic, one I pull out quite a bit. To one of the kids, not sure which one, "Do that again and I'm sending you to a state school." Not even sure what I mean. My brain is rotted from the meat log.

Breakfast:
2 Cups of Coffee
2 Slices Wheat Toast
1 Cup V8 Strawberry Banana Drink Thing

Lunch:
Baked Ziti

Dinner:
Risotto with Chicken, Artichokes, Grape Tomatoes

Interesting side note (well, to me anyway) - Blogger insists that Ziti is misspelled here. Gives an alternative of Zit or Zits, nice. Um, ain't Blogger part of Google? Are they serious? Ziti? C'mon. Also, while on a rant. The spell checker also insists that "internet" be "Internet" regardless of where it is in a sentence. Ah, no. Wrong.

What I Ate Feb 12, 2009

So, we had our company meeting at a movie theater today. And I think I finally figured out why I don't like the movies - it's the carpeting on the walls! Who does that? That's just wrong. What's next, lights on the floors? Oh, wait, they do that too.....

Stupid thing I said today:

The Boss to me "How was the company meeting?", Me "Like being trapped in an airplane for 3 hours with the Skymall video on infinite loop." Well, at least it wasn't this guy.

Breakfast:
Sesame Bagel
Cream Cheese

Lunch:
Steak Tips
Mashed Potatoes
Cauliflower

Dinner:
Baked Ziti

Valentine's Day Knock-Knock Joke From The Kids:

Knock-Knock
Who's There
Arthur
Arthur Who?
Arthur Any Chocolates Left For Me?

D'oh!

What I Ate Feb 11 2009

So, big thaw here in the City of Champions (yes Philly, you still suck). Looking out onto the deck, I can actually see a corner of my grill cover peeking out from beneath the snow. For those of you who are thinking, why isn't the grill cover on the grill - you aren't paying attention.........

FatKlatt had a good comment on my post earlier today. I do say a lot of stupid, regrettable, unfortunate, and just wrong things during the course of the day. I should account for them here, it's a shockingly good idea from someone who is so rarely sober. For today though, wouldn't it figure, I didn't say too much stupid at work (trust me, I'll tell all, I am far from shy). But tomorrow, now then, look out! We have our company meeting! I can't wait. "Hey, Mr. President there, rather than talk about company performance, let's talk about your performance there spanky!"

On to the food

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Breakfast:
2 Cups of Coffee
2 Slices Hannaford Wheat Bread Toast (I call out Hannaford as they are good peeps. Not like those Stop and Shop Fascists)
2 Turkey Sausages
1 Cup of Orange Juice

Lunch:
Turkey Chili

Snack:
No snack (which is bad - JBOO, DoggNBad, and Marky Mark all say that I get grumpy when I don't snack. I think it's a conspiracy personally. Trying to keep the skinny boy down. Sticks revolt!)

Dinner:
Baked Chicken
Baked Sweet Potato Fries (that scream you just heard is from TheSpinMD. That boy likes his life deep fried. Last I talked to him, he was working on deep frying his coffee. Odd duck that one.)

Peace folks.

What I Ate Feb 10 2009

Finally doing a blog. Big whoop right? Welcome to the century there pal. I know, I know. It's nothing but inertia and complete laziness which has prevented me from doing this sooner. That and deciding what to write about. I'd love to get that novel going here, or post my political thoughts, or, ooh, post my many thoughts on technology. But see the sentence about inertia, too hard to get moving on those........

So, many have asked how I keep this buff bod. Well, portion control baby. I've decided (partly because it is so lame and so easy) to post what I eat every day. We'll see how long it lasts. I'd set over under to 10 days.
